Sam Osborne fends off Josh Cook to score maiden BTCC win

Sam Osborne produced a defensive masterclass in race three at Silverstone to claim his maiden win in the British Touring Car Championship.

The Alliance Racing driver started the reverse grid contest from pole position and didn’t put a wheel wrong as he charged to the chequered flag for the first time in his career.

Osborne maintained the lead as the lights went out whilst fellow front-row starter Mikey Doble tumbled backwards in his Power Maxed Racing Cupra.

Soon though it was the emerging figure of Josh Cook and his Toyota that began to loom large in the mirrors of Osborne’s Ford Focus ST however the NAPA Racing UK driver remained resolute throughout, holding on all the way to the finish.

Cook held station to take the chequered flag in second place while four-time champion Ash Sutton charged forward to complete the podium, taking a handful of points out of Tom Ingram in the process.

Reigning champion Jake Hill made a late move on his West Surrey Racing team-mate Aiden Moffat to snatch fourth and Ingram would also find a way past the Scotsman on the final tour to complete the top five.

Moffat would round out the top six ahead of the EXCELR8 Motorsport duo of Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton, Dan Cammish and a recovering Doble.
