Ash Sutton: “I’ve got nothing to lose now”
Ash Sutton has admitted he has nothing to lose and everything to gain heading into the final round of the British Touring Car Championship season at Brands Hatch next month.
The Alliance Racing driver tallied a brace of podium finishes at Silverstone this past weekend however he still faces the uphill battle of closing down a 33-point deficit to Tom Ingram at the season finale in less than two weeks’ time.
“In a way it is out of our hands now,” said Sutton. “Realistically we need Tom to have some terrible luck at Brands Hatch because even if I win all three races, he just needs some solid points finishes to get the job done.
“That being said I’m certainly not giving up as I’ve got nothing to lose now. I’ll be throwing everything I’ve got at the final weekend of the season and the aim like always will be to do the best job possible.
“As for Silverstone, we knew we were going to be up against it given the nature of the circuit and two podiums was the best we could manage. We didn’t have the ultimate pace and that ultimately showed.
“I’ve got to say a massive well done to my team-mate Sam (Osborne) though. His family live and breathe motorsport and to see how much that win all means to them is really special. That first win is one you always remember.”
