Sam Osborne ‘lost for words’ after maiden BTCC triumph

Sam Osborne insists he has struggled to find the words to sum up his emotions after claiming a popular maiden win in the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone.

Hot on the heels of celebrating his 200th start in race two at the Home of British Motor Racing, the Alliance Racing driver produced the drive of his career as he claimed a lights-to-flag victory in the reverse grid finale.

Starting from pole position, Osborne was wheel-perfect in his Ford Focus ST as he fended off race-long pressure from Josh Cook to finally break duct in the UK’s premier motorsport series.

“I’m completely lost for words,” said Osborne. “Starting from pole on the soft tyre I knew we had a good opportunity but Josh did not make it east for me at all. I could see him coming on strong but we managed to hold it and break clear in those last few laps to win.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling and I don’t quite know what to say at the moment. I have to say a huge thank you to the team though because the effort they have put in is incredible; without them I wouldn’t be stood here.

“I never thought this day would come but here we are, I can now call myself a BTCC race winner. It’s been an absolutely awesome weekend!”
