Ash Sutton: “What will be will be tomorrow”
Ash Sutton was left scratching his head after setting the 11th fastest time in British Touring Car Championship qualifying at Brands Hatch.
The Alliance Racing driver – who trails Tom Ingram by 33 points going into tomorrow’s finale – seemingly struggled during the final qualifying session of the year, sighting a lack of tyre performance.
“We’ve got some things to look into this evening,” mused Sutton. “We didn’t get a chance to run the soft tyre in second practice so it was a slight step into the unknown going into qualifying.
“The car felt rally good though in Q1 on the first set and then in Q2 we were absolutely nowhere. I had nothing underneath me and it felt like something was fundamentally wrong so we’ll get our heads down and do some digging.
“Obviously qualifying behind Tom isn’t ideal but those are the cards we’ve been dealt with. We’ve got three races tomorrow and ultimately what will be will be.”
Going into tomorrow’s opening encounter around the Grand Prix circuit, Sutton will start four places behind Ingram.
