Daryl DeLeon delighted to snare back-to-back poles

Daryl DeLeon was left delighted after claiming his second British Touring Car Championship pole position in as many events.

In what proved to be a frenetic final qualifying session of the season around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, the West Surrey Racing driver left it until the dying seconds before rocketing to the summit of the leaderboard.

Smashing the existing lap record in the process, the second pole of the year for the BMW 330i M Sport driver has also ensured that he will start on the front foot in his bid to clinch the coveted Jack Sears Trophy.

“It’s the best possible outcome for qualifying that I could have asked for,” said DeLeon. “Obviously this weekend my focus is on trying to win the Jack Sears Trophy so to be on pole position and a few spots clear of my nearest rival sets me up nicely for tomorrow.

“We showed that we had good pace in the second practice session but then in Q1 I suffered a puncture and I had thought that we might not make it through. Thankfully the team at WSR got me turned round quickly and I was able to get into the Quick Six.

“To take pole position on my second push lap – and right at the end of the session – was nice and as I’ve said it sets us up for a strong final day off the season. I’ve fumbled my race one starts recently so hopefully we can have a solid Sunday and bring home three strong results.”
