Tom Ingram ‘in a good place’ ahead of final day of the season
British Touring Car Championship points leader Tom Ingram admits he is in a good place ahead of tomorrow’s series finale at Brands Hatch after qualifying in seventh.
The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver – who holds a 33-point advantage over Ash Sutton going into the final three races of the year – delivered a strong showing in qualifying around the Grand Prix circuit to crucially guarantee that he starts in front of his title rival in Sunday’s opening contest.
In-doing so, the Hyundai i30 N driver also scooped the Goodyear Wingfoot Award which is for the series’ top qualifier over the course of the 2025 campaign.
Ingram’s qualifying performances having provided the backbone to his title charge up to now with two pole positions and a total of eight top-five qualifying results propelling him to the crown.
“All things considered it is a great result,” said Ingram. “I think we’ve seen this year that qualifying is evermore important so to have out-qualified Ash and be the Goodyear Wingfoot Award winner for the season is a good start to the weekend.
“With the TOCA Turbo Boost that we had at our disposal, pole position was never going to be on the table and arguably neither was the Quick Six. To be seventh therefore is probably better than we thought and puts us in a strong place for tomorrow.
“The car is feeling good and it’s nice to be holding a trophy. I’ll be very vocal in saying we want a lot more trophies tomorrow with three titles to fight for so it promises to be an exciting day – as it always is when it’s a BTCC finale.”
