Jake Hill delighted to score podium in final BTCC race
Jake Hill closed out his time in the British Touring Car Championship on a high at Brands Hatch this past weekend by claiming one final podium.
The West Surrey Racing driver had announced prior to the series finale that he would be stepping away from the BTCC to pursue other opportunities in international motorsport – something he has always been interested in doing.
Returning to the scene of where he lifted the biggest prize in UK motorsport back in 2024, Hill was eager to sign off his time in the series in style and kicked things off around the Grand Prix circuit by putting his car sixth on the grid for race one.
Making a flying start from the third row, the outgoing champion sadly sustained contact on the run down Pilgrims Drop which resulted in him suffering a front left puncture.
Tasked with starting at the back of the grid for race two, the BMW 33Oi M Sport driver produced an overtaking masterclass as he carved his way up the field to finish seventh, which in-turn put him third for the reverse grid
finale.
Delivering one last determined drive, Hill got the better of his stablemate Aiden Moffat to snare third place and with it, end his time in the BTCC on the podium.
“It’s been a really emotional weekend but what a way to end it,” said Hill. “It wasn’t the win that I’d initially hoped for but to be on the podium was special.
“On track it was a real mixture of highs and lows. I had a puncture in race one and then had to go from 19th up to seventh in race two, which then put us in the mix for the reverse grid draw.
“We had some good battles out there but by the time I had cleared Aiden the top two of Josh [Cook] and Ash [Sutton] had gone up the road. I pushed so hard to try catch them but they just had enough over me.
“That’s my time in the BTCC done now though. I have had the most incredible time and I want to thank everybody that has supported me throughout my career. It’s been absolutely mega and the BTCC will always be home for me!”
