A new TCR manufacturer set for reveal next week
Two new manufacturers will start producing TCR race cars in 2026 according to WSC Ltd. president Marcello Lotti, with one set for reveal next week.
“We cannot give any more information at this moment, but next Friday a new manufacturer will be announced to arrive in TCR next year,” Lotti said.
“We’ve had discussions with various car makers, and another announcement will come at the end of this month, also for another manufacturer competing in TCR.”
Lotti is confident about the growth of TCR over the coming years, with changes to the technical regulations being a key part to it.
“We are expanding the regulations to accommodate more cars, expanding the engine size and ditching the four-door regulation, as we are now for example seeing cars with three doors,” said Lotti.
“We want a more flexible approach, as long as they remain within the concept of saloon cars.”
While not specifying the identity of the new manufacturers or their specific championship plans, Lotti hints that the announcements will bring more cars to the FIA TCR World Tour.
“At the moment we have ten regular cars competing in the TCR World Tour and, with these new announcements, we should expect the number of competitors for the whole season to 12-14,” said Lotti.
