Yann Ehrlacher: “Next for me is the fourth title”

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Yann Ehrlacher drove a conservative first race in Macau to become the 2025 FIA TCR World Tour drivers’ champion, the third touring car world title for the Frenchman.

“It feels amazing being a three-time world champion,” Ehrlacher told TouringCarTimes.

“It’s my aspiration and my career goal, so I wake up every day to achieve this.

“There was a lot of pressure especially at the end. We had done a lot of work the last two years and we finally got it together, we won the teams’ title and now the drivers’, so we got the two titles this year.”

Ehrlacher performed a good start a and got side-by-side with pole sitter Néstor Girolami (Hyundai), but the Argentinean kept the lead as he had the inside into Lisboa.

“I want to congratulate Néstor (Girolami) for his victory, it’s always great to win in Macau,” the Frenchman said.

“I did a better start than Néstor, and this is despite having 30 kilos, but he got ahead.”

The newly crowned champion still fancied his chances for a victory, but decided on a conservative approach to secure the title.

“At some point I saw that I had pace to do something, because a win in Macau is still a win in Macau, but then, when I saw that Mikel (Azcona) came back, I thought to let him go and let those guys ahead of me,” said Ehrlacher.

“The focus was to not make any mistakes so, from Lisboa, I let them on.”

Ehrlacher can now relax, and is looking forward to a final race on Sunday with no pressure.

“I’m now very happy and then there is one more race, with nothing to lose, so it will be about enjoying,” said Ehrlacher.

What is next for Yann Ehrlacher?

“The fourth title. I just need one day to enjoy, and then I will start thinking about next year,” said Ehrlacher.
