Ma Qing Hua: “There was no chance of overtaking”

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Ma Qing Hua fought hard in the final FIA TCR World Tour race of 2025 to claim his first win of the season, but was ultimately unable to convert his pressure on winner Josh Buchan (Hyundai) into an overtake.

“It was not an easy race, though,” Ma told TouringCarTimes.

“I had a really good start but, obviously, we don’t have the best straight line speed and Buchan was on the inside of Mandarin, so I had to save the place for position.”

Ma lost two places to team-mate Santiago Urrutia and Mikel Azcona during the first lap, positions he was able to recover as the two drivers in front of him came together later in the race.

“We made it through and there was an accident in front of me in the middle of the stint, I’m sorry for my team-mate Santi (Urrutia), and I tried to put the pressure on Buchan,” the Lynk & Co driver explained.

“I got closer in Sector 1, but then 2, 3 and 4 there is no chance of overtaking and it was tough to fight for the position.”

Ma was nonetheless satisfied with the result in an event he considers a home race and where he enjoyed the support from a lot of fans.

“First of all, I’m super happy to be on the podium again. Thanks to the team, thanks to Cyan Racing and Lynk & Co,” said Ma.

“We finished the race and got a good result, I’m happy for all the people here which is partly my home race as well.”
