Broc Feeney inches closer to title with Race 2 victory in Adelaide
Broc Feeney has inched closer to the 2025 Supercars Championship title after winning the second race of the season finale weekend on the streets of Adelaide, beating title rival Chaz Mostert who was gifted second place by team-mate Ryan Wood.
Triple Eight driver Feeney started from pole but was immediately challenged by Aaron Cameron who started on the front row.
The two battled for the first couple of corners, a battle which allowed Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Wood to get past Feeney for second.
Wood claimed the lead from Cameron on the third lap, with Cameron’s race then ending on lap nine as he hit the wall.
Title contender Mostert started from 12th on the grid and worked his way up through the field quickly. But it was not without cost as he sustained damage to his front after hitting the tyre stack at Turn 1 twice.
Feeney battled engine issues during the first part of the race but reported that the issue was gone as the race neared mid-point.
The Chevrolet driver then closed in on Wood after the pit stops had been completed and made his move for the lead just as Wood had completed his second stop on lap 51.
Mostert managed to pass Feeney’s team-mate Will Brown for third place on lap 57.
Wood kept close to Feeney until the last couple of laps as he let off the pace to allow team-mate Mostert to pass for second place.
Feeney claimed a crucial win with a margin of close to 17 seconds over Mostert while Wood completed the podium.
Brown came home in fourth ahead of Kai Allen and Matthew Payne.
Feeney headed the standings by 13 points ahead of this race, a gap he has extended to 23 points ahead of the final race of the season on Sunday where there are 125 points left to fight for.
