Chaz Mostert snatches Supercars title as Broc Feeney hits engine issues

Chaz Mostert managed to snatch the 2025 Supercars Championship title from long time points leader Broc Feeney who hit both incidents and engine issues in the final race of the year in Adelaide.

Triple Eight driver Feeney started from pole but was beaten into Turn 1 by Matt Payne.

Feeney then found himself under pressure from Mostert’s team-mate Ryan Wood in the fight for second place, a fight which resulted in contact and a spin for Feeney who dropped down the order.

The first couple of laps also saw contact between Nick Percat, James Golding and Jack Le Brocq, an incident resulting in a retirement for Erebus Motorsport driver Le Brocq and a safety car session.

Feeney was quickly regaining ground after his first lap incident but suffered further following a slow first pit stop.

And the nightmare continued for Feeney as the intermittent engine issues returned by mid-point of the race, meaning that his title hopes seriously started to fade.

Walkinshaw Andretti United driver Wood, who started third, had to pit to change a damper by the end of the race which sent him down from the top to be classified as 24th and last.

Wood’s team-mate and title contender Mostert drove a solid race from fourth on the grid to finish second, even lapping title rival Feeney who suffered yet another slow stop.

Payne controlled the race at the top for Grove Racing, winning the race by close to six seconds over Mostert while outgoing champion Will Brown claimed the final podium position.

Payne’s team-mate Kai Allen finished fourth ahead of Anton De Pasquale and Brodie Kostecki.

Mostert secured his first Supercars title after 13 seasons in the championship while a devastated Feeney dropped down to finish third behind team-mate Brown. Mostert won the title with a margin of 62 points while Feeney was six points further behind.
