Plato Racing confirmed for 2026 season as BTCC announces TBL list
Plato Racing will officially join the British Touring Car Championship grid in 2026 following the confirmation of all TOCA BTCC Licence allocations.
Following the series’ recent entry approval deadline, a total of nine teams and 26 are listed to line up on the grid next year.
One of the biggest additions to the grid is that of Plato Racing, the brand-new outfit that is being spearheaded by former double champion Jason Plato.
Having previously announced his intentions to enter the UK’s premier motorsport series back in September, Plato’s team has locked in a tie-up with RML and has already recruited key personnel including Paul Ridgeway and Malcolm Swetnam.
Delivery of the Plato Racing cars – the identity of which remain under wraps despite intense speculation – is expected early in the new year. Drivers for the two-car programme are also yet to be confirmed by the 97-time race winner as it stands.
Elsewhere on the grid, reigning champions EXCELR8 Motorsport will remain with four entries, as will their chief rivals Alliance Racing.
Speedworks Motorsport – who have already announced a partnership with MB Motorsport for next season – are another squad to hold four licences. West Surrey Racing and Power Maxed Racing meanwhile now hold three each.
The rest of the field – Restart Racing, Un-Limited Motorsport and One Motorsport (who elected to sit out the second half of last season) – all hold two licences apiece.
