Jamie Whincup says Max Verstappen could join Bathurst 1000 in 2026 or 2027
Triple Eight head Jamie Whincup is working hard to secure four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen for the Bathurst 1000 Supercars Championship endurance race.
“He’s got his eyes open at the moment, which is good,” said Whincup to 7News Queensland.
“He’s looking at other series and championships. If not this year, next year, we can see him behind the wheel.”
Verstappen drove a Ford Mustang Supercar in the US last week as part of Ford Racing’s promotion activities connected to its cooperation with the Red Bull F1 team.
“I had a lot of fun… I was just smiling,” said Verstappen.
