Squadra Martino confirms Tiago Pernía and two-car TCR Europe programme

Squadra Martino will debut in TCR Europe this season with two Honda Civic FL5 TCRs and has confirmed Tiago Pernía for one of its Japanese cars.

“I am very grateful to Sebastián (Martino) and the entire team for this incredible opportunity,” said Pernía.

“Racing in TCR Europe is a dream, and doing it with a team I know and whose way of working I trust gives me great confidence. We know the level there is extremely high, but we are going to work hard to put the team and Argentina at the very top.”

Pernía finished seventh overall for Squadra Martino in last year’s TCR South America while the team clinched both the drivers’ and teams’ titles.

“It is an immense pride to announce this step,” said team principal Sebastián Martino.

“After five wonderful years in TCR South America, we felt it was time to seek new horizons and measure ourselves in the cradle of motorsport.

“Carrying the Squadra Martino flag to Europe is not only a sporting challenge, but also a logistical and human one. We fully trust in the potential of the Honda Civic and in the talent of Tiago Pernía to be competitive from the first round in Mugello.”

Pernía’s team-mate will be announced “in the coming weeks”.

The team will receive support from RC2 Racing Team throughout the TCR Europe season while running a TCR South America programme in parallell.
