Joaquín Cafaro scores Peugeot seat for 2026
Joaquín Cafaro will compete in TCR South America on a full-time basis in 2026 after being named as the first driver for the Uruguay Racing team.
Cafaro, who raced at Mercedes and El Pinar last season, will be at the wheel of a Peugeot 308 TCR having previously competed in various championships across the continent.
The included winning the Super Turismo championship in his home country of Uruguay back in 2023.
“I’m very happy to confirm that this year I will compete in TCR South America with the Uruguay Racing Team,” he said. “We have been working on this project for many months and, finally, it is officially launched with this confirmation.
“I am very happy to be representing, in a way, Uruguay in a South American championship and enjoying this category, in which I was able to compete in the two rounds held in Uruguay last year. Honestly, it makes me really happy to be here.”
