James Golding tops final pre-season test as kangaroos causes red flag

James Golding topped the final day of Supercars Championship pre-season testing at Sydney Motorsport Park as kangaroos caused one of two red flag sessions.

The Blanchard Racing Team Ford driver lapped the circuit in 1:28.1371 to beat the Triple Eight duo of Broc Feeney and Will Brown by 0.17 and 0.22 seconds respectively.

Team 18 driver Anton De Pasquale was fastest of the Chevrolet drivers in fifth place, four tenths from the top time.

Cameron Waters of Tickford Racing and Brodie Kostecki of Dick Johnson Racing rounded off the top six, 0.42 and 0.43 seconds from Golding respectively.

Brad Jones Racing driver Andre Heimgartner was fastest of the Toyota Supra drivers in eighth position, six tenths off the top time.

The first of two red flag sessions came as the officials inspected the resurfacing of Turn 8 while the second came as several kangaroos had entered the track.

The first Supercars Championship race weekend of 2026 takes place this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.
