Junesung Park and Mike Halder heads Mugello season opener practice
Junesung Park and Mike Halder topped the first two practice sessions of the TCR Europe season opener at Mugello in Italy.
The first session saw a very close top four, with Junesung Park of Solite Indigo Racing heading Hyundai rival Alex Ley of BRC Racing Team by just 0.006 seconds.
Halder put his Honda in third place during the first session, 35 thousands from the top time while Junui Park claimed fourth, 0.084 seconds slower than his team-mate.
Gabriele Covini made it four Hyundais in the top five, close to four tenths from P1.
Marco Butti was fastest of the Cupra drivers in fifth place, more than half a second slower than Junesung Park.
The second session saw ALM Motorsport’s Halder lowering the fastest time by 0.121 seconds to 1:55.061, beating Audi driver Nicola Baldan by more than four tenths of a second.
Halder’s team-mate Ruben Volt was second fastest, 0.848 seconds behind, while Adam Shepherd was fourth fastest for Monlau Motorsport Cupra.
Junesung Park, who topped the first session, could only manage fifth place in this session ahead of Covini.
Ley failed to set a lap time in the second session due to a mechanical issue.
Next up is qualifying, starting at 10:55 CET on Saturday.
