Nelson Piquet Jr heads Honda 1-2-3 in Cascavel qualifying
Nelson Piquet Jr claimed his first TCR South America pole position of 2026 in qualifying for the first race of the weekend at Autódromo Zilmar Beux in Cascavel, heading a Honda Racing 1-2-3.
The Honda driver set a fastest lap time of 1:04.242 to beat team-mate Tiago Pernia by 0.179 seconds and Leonel Pernia by 0.330 seconds.
Raphael Reis was fastest of the non-Honda drivers in his Cupra for W2 Pro Gp, 0.437 seconds from pole.
G Racing Motorsport driver Pedro Cardoso made two Cupras in the top five while Joaquin Caforo claimed sixth position with his Uruguay Racing Team-prepared Peugeot 308TCR.
Néstor Girolami was fastest of the Hyundai drivers in seventh place, just two thousands of a second slower than Cafaro.
Erick Schotten rounded out the top eight for W2 Pro Gp, 0.580 seconds from pole.
The first race of the weekend starts at 19:40 CET on Saturday.
