FIA TCR World Tour announces grid boost for fastest lap

A grid boost for the fastest lap of the first race of each FIA TCR World Tour has been introduced by WSC, the series promoter, ahead of the 2026 season.

The driver who sets the fastest lap of the first race will be moved up one place for the grid of the second race grid which is partially reversed.

The qualifying format remains unchanged, with Q1 and Q2 determining the grid for the first race and a top ten reversed grid for race two.

For example, if a driver finishes ninth in qualifying and sets the fastest lap of Race 1, that driver will be elevated to pole position for the reversed second race grid.

Those race weekends which feature three races (Spain, South Korea and China) will have the Race 3 grid set by the accumulated points from qualifying and the first two races.

The 2026 FIA TCR World Tour season starts at Misano on May 9-10 and the so far only confirmed full-season entry is that of Geely Cyan Racing and the part-time entry of Jenson Brickley. Explore the grid further at the TouringCarTimes Grid Projections.
