Clairet brothers to share driving duties in FIA TCR World Tour
Brothers Teddy and Jimmy Clairet will join the FIA TCR World Tour rounds in Europe, racing a Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR for ALM Motorsport, splitting driving duties.
“We are really happy to get the opportunity to step up to the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour,” the brothers said in a joint statement.
“We know it will be really hard, as it’s a late move, with very little preparation we are facing really strong competition, but as competitor, it was always what we wanted to do, to fight at the top level in TCR. When the opportunity came up we had to take it, on top of that we are super happy to share it together!”
Teddy will drive the first two race weekends at Misano and Paul Ricard while Jimmy will take over for Valencia and Vila Real.
“We have to thank Rubén Fernández who did a great work with TCR Europe, and Marcello Lotti for the prize they’ve put together to be able to climb the ladder,” they added.
“Without it, it couldn’t have been possible. We also have to thank ALM Motorsport, with whom we always had good relationship in the past. For sure they’ll help us to understand the Honda and put us in the best condition, they are really professional and it’s nice to be racing with them.”
Teddy finished second overall in TCR Europe last year on the same number of points as champion Jenson Brickley who hade more podium finishes while Jimmy finished third, 13 points adrift.
Brickley will also race for the team during the European rounds, with nine confirmed entries for the Misano season opener so far.
