TCR cars invited to contest Motor Racing Australia series
WSC and Motorsport Australia have reached an agreement that will allow TCR cars in Australia to compete together through the remainder of the 2026 season.
The agreement will see TCR cars invited to compete in their own class within the Super TT category of Motor Racing Australia events to be held at Sydney Motorsport Park and One Raceway between this weekend and mid-November.
Drivers will be able to compete for a TCR Australia title, with the move coming on the back of the decision to call off a planned championship season that would have run five meetings at The Bend and Mallala Motorsport Park.
“We are grateful to Motorsport Australia for their dedication in helping us to find a worthy environment for the many TCR cars that are in Australia,” WSC president Marcello Lotti said.
“Giving them the opportunity to join the MRA series and fight for a TCR Australia title is the first step to relaunch the category in Australia.”
Iain McDougall in an Audi RS 3 LMS, Brad Harris in a Honda Civic and Harrison Cooper in a Hyundai i30 N are part of the entry for this weekend’s event in Sydney.
“It was important to find the right series, framework and support to position TCR competitors for success in Australia,” Motorsport Australia CEO Josh Blanksby said.
“This solution guarantees that competitors can continue to compete with confidence and enjoy being part of grassroots motorsport in 2026. Backed by a united and passionate community, we look forward to seeing TCR Australia competitors back on track this weekend.”
