Junesung Park tops first FIA TCR World Tour practice at Inje Speedium

Local hero Junesung Park topped the first free practice session of the FIA TCR World Tour round at Inje Speedium in South Korea.

The Solite Indigo Racing Hyundai driver headed BRC Hyundai rival Norbert Michelisz by close to four tenths of a second.

Geely Cyan Racing driver Thed Björk was close behind in third, just 39 thousands of a second slower than Michelisz.

Mikel Azcona made it three Hyundais in the top four ahead of reigning champion Yann Ehrlacher who was 0.632 seconds from the top time.

Jean-Karl Vernay, who returns this weekend after his injury, claimed the sixth fastest time ahead of SP Competition team-mate Aurelien Comte, 0.681 and 0.977 seconds from Park respectively.

Lo Sze Ho took his Hyundai to eighth place ahead of Cupra driver Viktor Andersson and Geely driver Ma Qing Hua.

Disaster struck points leader Santiago Urrutia as the team started an engine change on his Geely Preface TCR, something that likely will mean a grid penalty for the Uruguayan driver.

The second free practice session starts at 17:00 local time/10:00 CEST.
