Thed Björk: “I tried, but Mikel was making no mistakes”

Thed Björk was the top-scoring Geely Cyan Racing driver of the FIA TCR World Tour race weekend at Inje Speedium while his team-mates struggled.

The Swedish driver claimed two second-place finishes and has moved up to fourth place overall, trailing former points leader and team-mate Santiago Urrutia by 21 points.

“I’m feeling good with my Geely car and back in the fight, and looking forward to China,” said Björk.

The final race saw Björk’s best opportunity to challenge for the victory and harassed race winner and points leader Mikel Azcona during the final couple of laps.

“P2, but you always want to be standing on top of the podium and cross the finish line first,” said Björk.

“For me, it wasn’t the perfect start, and then my plan was to take care of my tyres and then attack at the end. It worked out well, but I just couldn’t get past. I tried, but Mikel was making no mistakes, so second position for us.”

Björk carried no compensation weight this weekend while Azcona carried 10kg, Urrutia and Norbert Michelisz 30kg and Yann Ehrlacher 40kg.
