STCC issues seven-race calendar for 2016

The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship organisation has released the calendar for the 2016 season, featuring seven races just as this year.

”We have seven intensive and speed-filled weekends to look forward for next season,” said Jonas Lundin, MD of STCC AB.

The sole order change to the calendar is a switch between Mantorp and Anderstorp, with the twilight race of Mantorp becoming race number two and Anderstorp race number three.

Four of the races will be held on Sundays instead of the usual Saturday format, including Skövde, Anderstorp, Falkenberg and Karlskoga.

The season starts at the Skövde airport circuit on the first of May and ends at Knutstorp in the south of Sweden on September 24th.

The so far announced entries for the 2016 season are the two Volvo S60s of Polestar Cyan Racing for Prince Carl Philip and a yet to be announced driver, but Lundin of STCC AB states that all teams from 2015 will continue and that more are coming.

”All teams from this year will drive in 2016. Other than that, we have discussions with both new teams and new manufacturers,” said Lundin.
