Stefano Comini close to finalising a deal for the 2016 season

2015 TCR International Series champion Stefano Comini has long been worried he would not find a fully backed drive for the coming season, but says he is close to securing a spot on the grid for the Series’ sophomore season.

“I am serene, things are going well,” said Comini to TouringCarTimes. “I have a verbal agreement and the contract is being defined in the next few days.”

Despite not saying what car he will drive and with which team, the Swiss says he is happy with the opportunity: “Besides my main project I may also do some outings in different championships, which makes the deal even better. This is still being defined though, so I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen. I have to say that things are quite positive.”

Although previously criticised for his off-track style, Comini made it clear he would not change that: “I will stay who I am. I will come back as a Viking, more determined than ever and willing to win. I clarified I would not change my personality.”

Comini will reveal his plans at the end of this month, with a press conference held at the unnamed team’s headquarters.
