SEAT enters the 2016 STCC with PWR Racing

SEAT Sweden has announced a four-year contract with PWR Racing to compete in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
”SEAT has a long tradition of racing and performance products through its Cupra models. That is why it feels natural to start a proper racing effort on the Swedish market as well,” said Per Brinkenberg, head of SEAT Sweden.

PWR Racing will race with a SEAT model uniquely constructed for racing in the STCC, with team partner Combitech constructing the carbon fibre body.

“We have worked for a long time with the vision to have official backing from a manufacturer within the Volkswagen group. To be able to present this partnership with SEAT is hugely positive for the team and underlines our long-term belief in the STCC,” said Poker Wallenberg, co-founder and co-owner of PWR Racing.

Part of the plan for the team with SEAT is to acquire a TCR specification SEAT León in preparation of the previously hinted switch for STCC from TTA regulations to TCR in 2017 or 2018.

“This feels incredible and beyond the STCC part in this we have a goal to buy a TCR car from SEAT Sport for evaluation and tests,” said Daniel Haglöf, driver and MD of PWR Racing.

The team has not stated information on the number of cars or drivers in the 2016 STCC season, but rumours has indicated that former BMW driver Fredrik Larsson could be on the way to the team alongside Emma Kimiläinen.
