New STCC circuit planned for Gothenburg

A new airport circuit for the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship is planned for Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden, by the construction concern Serneke that has taken over Säve Airport for 175 million Swedish Kronor.

”We want to keep general aviation, the emergency service and at the same time utilise the unused areas to create a living area that attracts companies and businesses,” said Ola Serneke, MD for Serneke.

The airport was closed for commercial airlines in January last year and could become a replacement for Gothenburg City Arena STCC circuit that was closed down after the 2014 season.

Further details on the circuit will be released during the summer according to Serneke.
