Davit Kajaia on his three-car pass: “It was unreal”

Liqui-Moly Team Engstler driver Davit Kajaia arguably put on the overtaking move of the season at the action-delivering Turn 3 at the Buriram International Circuit in Thailand, as the Georgian slipped past three cars in one move on his way to fifth position in Race 2.

Kajaia’s move came with three laps to go, as Eakie BBR Honda driver Kantadhee Kusiri was battling with Leopard VW’s Jean-Karl Vernay and B3 SEAT driver Attila Tassi. As the three drivers battled it out at the corner, braking late and pushing each other wide, Kajaia darted down the inside past all three in one move and grabbed fifth position as part of a strong recovery drive from 13th on the grid.

“It was amazing, because when they were fighting in front of me, they also closed the door but were on the right side so I could choose the left line and could pass all three cars,” said Kajaia to TouringCarTimes. “It was unreal, I was really happy with this move.

“The race was also really good for me, it’s the first time in a really tight fight, so I’m really happy with my results. I’m just disappointed a little because of qualifying, as my driveshaft broke on my second lap and I couldn’t show a good time.”
