Pepe Oriola says he’ll help team-mate James Nash’s title bid in Macau

Pepe Oriola’s day was ruined when contact with B3 Racing’s Mat’o Homola left him with a damaged car, which dropped the Craft-Bamboo driver out of the points, with the Spaniard vowing to now aid his team-mate at the season finale at Macau in November.

“It was not a good day”, admitted Oriola. “I’ve had a lot of work to do to get closer to the front, after starting from so far back.”

The SEAT driver says he didn’t know Comini had a penalty, which pushed him into taking risks in a bid to get more points: “I went for it and I risked on the last lap, not knowing that Comini had been penalised. If I had known, he would likely have been more conservative.”

Now that Oriola is 33 points behind team-mate and championship leader James Nash, with just 55 points remaining, the Lukoil-backed driver says he will work to help his team-mate clinch the title.

“Although the title is complicated, I will work for the team in the last two races of the year so that James Nash can be the next TCR International Series champion.”
