SEAT confirm four cars and announce first driver

SEAT Dealer Team PWR Racing has confirmed the first driver in the form of team co-owner Peter ”Poker” Wallenberg, as well as the expansion from three to four cars for the 2017 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.

”After testing one of the team’s SEATs, the choice to enter the STCC wasn’t that hard. The car is really different to the GT cars I have raced the last couple of seasons, but really fun and challenging to drive,” said Wallenberg.

The 57-year-old has raced in the Swedish GT for the past couple of seasons, claiming the title in 2015 with team co-owner Daniel Haglöf.

”It is of course going to be a tough mission to race alone against professional drivers, but I hope that my decision can attract further amateur drivers to the STCC class,” said Wallenberg.

The SEAT team has also announced to divide their programme into three different teams: SEAT Dealer Team, SEAT Customer Team and SEAT Junior team

”We are experiencing an enormous pressure from drivers that want to race in the STCC. That is why we have taken the decision to run three programmes within the frame of PWR Racing. SEAT Dealer Team is our main programme with the sole goal to win the STCC with our partners and SEAT Sweden. With Customer Team and Junior Team the idea is to open up the possibilities for more drivers to develop with PWR Racing,” said Daniel Haglöf, team co-owner.

The team has also confirmed to order a fourth SEAT León TCR race car, expanding from the original plan of three cars.
