Sandström won at Anderstorp
Edward Sandström sequred Volvo´s first win of the year today at Anderstorp. Edward was very happy after the 12 lap long race. “It was great to win, I am very pleased. The car is very easily driven and we knew that it could go really well,” Edward said after the race.
Edwards team mate Robert Dahlgren was leading the race at the beginning. It looked like it was going to be Volvo 1-2 after Robert getting in to the lead after only two laps when he started from fourth.
But sadly for Robert his Volvo-engine died four laps from the finish.
Johan Stureson who had pole position came in second. He was third for many laps behind Tommy Rustad. The two had a very hard fight which ended in Rustad going off the track as they came together in a corner.
“Our wheels touched and something broke in his car, it is nothing to talk about,” Johan said after the race.
Championship leader Thed Björk gained important points as he finished third. Thed was delighted after the race to be able to maintain his lead in the points.
“I thought it would be tougher in the final, but what an awesome weekend,” Thed said after the race. Thed now leads the championship seven points ahead of todays winner Edward Sandström.
But it was certainly tough behind Thed. Fredrik Ekblom was hit at the start of the race and went off in to the gravel trap. Janne “Flash” Nilsson also suffered from the same destiny.
Richard Göransson´s bad start of the season continued as he got hit hard at the early stages of the race. Something in the steering broke and Richard could only finish eight.
Unfortiunately for the Mercedes team none of their two cars managed to finish this race. Hopefully things will go better at the coming Falkenberg-round when the team will have new parts to their struggling engines.
