Björk vs. Rudholm
After only one race of the 2006 STCC season we have two sworn enemies – Thed Björk and Robin Rudholm. The two collided on the last lap, only two corners from the finish, which resulted in Björk taking the win and Rudholm stranded in the gravel. The race was aired yesterday on TV and both drivers had their views on the incident.
– Thed can stand there with his victory smile and think he has done a fair race. I think everyone rates me as the moral winner, Rudholm said to STCC.se.
Thed Björk was not late to reply.
– Poor Robin. I think he needs to sleep on the matter. The TV-pictures shows that I drive hard in to the side of Robin. But I had planned the overtaking two corners earlier. If I had been in Robins situation I would have calmly braked and tried to go for the inside on the next corner, Thed said.
– If I would have braked, Thed would have gone off in to the gravel. He even goes off the track despite me being in the way. You can’t think like that if you’re fighting for tenths on the track, Rudholm replied.
The incident was judged as a “racing incident” by the stewards and no penalty was given. This upsets Rudholm.
– I am concerned about the level the stewards have set. I hope they keep the same level on the coming race so we don’t go there and get penalised for the smallest thing, Rudholm said.
But Rudholm isn’t planning on taking Thed off the track, he is going to get even in another way.
– I’m going to drive away from him. I am more focused now than ever and I’m going to be even quicker on the next race. Thed won’t stand a chance, Rudholm said.
