Rosenblad: “There are no excuses”

Carl Rosenblad said that this is his worst season for 18 years. But he is not letting the negative trend get to him. “If you look at the conditions we have, routine, the team and the car we should have been in the top. But I won’t just come with explanations and excuses – we are focusing totally at the final race.”

Returnee from WTCC, winner of the STCC-final 2001 and ranked as the eight most successful STCC-driver ever. Despite an impressive resume things have not gone Rosenblad’s way this year.
“The results this year are appalling. I thought that we could have been much higher in the results, but we haven’t been quick enough in the qualifying,” Rosenblad said and added:
“But despite excuses and explanations it is all about one thing in the end, to deliver.”

A win is still in the cross hair for the BMW-star. Mantorp seems to be good for him, he was second fastest during the qualifying at the last Mantorp race. Though he had to start sixth after the super pole was striked. He fought his way up to fourth position when the generator failed and he had to retire.
“That was a shame. The final race this year will be quite similair to the last race at Mantorp I think. It is a close field and the race will be extra exciting because there are factors that affect the tyres in a special way. It isn’t as easy to defend a position at Mantorp when the tyres are worn as it is on other tracks.”

How are you affected as a driver after struggling this season?
“Not at all. That is my strength as a driver, that I can have many things in my head right before the start, but when the helmet comes on I’m focusing completely on the race and nothing else.”

What is the goal and a good result for you at the final race?
“The goal is nothing else but a victory. In this field one must consider a podium finish as ok, but I’m driving for a win. I would so much like to give my team a victory this season.”
