No Rosenblad in STCC 2007
Elgh Motorsport and Carl Rosenblad will not be on the grid of the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2007.
“We feel that we do not have the recourses required to produce the results we want this season, so we are looking on 2008 instead,” team boss Eje Elgh said.
Last season Elgh Motorsport bought a brand new BMW 320si E90 for Carl Rosenblad who returned from the WTCC. Rosenblad is disappointed over the decision but is looking forward to next season.
“Of course it is very sad not being able to drive this year. I looked forward to my revenge for the past season which was more or less a fiasco in my eyes. But I have full respect for Eje’s decision. We have the base philosophy that we must be in with a chance to fight for wins, and we feel that we do not have enough budget for that this year,” Rosenblad said.
But Rosenblad will still do some driving this year. Currently he is looking for a LeMans-drive.
“I have already started some work on this. To drive LeMans alone is just as much driving as a whole STCC-season,” Rosenblad said.
For 2008 a new sponsor and bigger budget is planned for the STCC-team.
“We are discussing with a partner who has a very serious ambition level for 2008. What it could mean in the end I won’t speculate in, but it looks very good,” Rosenblad said.
“It was supposed to have happened this season. But the time has gone away from us. We hope to be back next year. As things are looking now we have a winner’s car, ready to drive, in Karlskoga for sale,” team boss Elgh said.
