Volvo confirms C30 and 3 year programme

Today Volvo Motorsport and Polestar Racing confirmed what TouringCarTimes reported about earlier this week: A three year deal has been signed and the new Volvo C30 will be used in the Swedish Touring Car Championship next year. The car will be run on bio-ethanol, the same engine as being used in the current S60.
“That we change to the C30 is no coincidence. The base construction of the model provides a very good base for a racing car,” said Murdzevski from Volvo Motorsport.

The first prototype will start testing on track in two days and Robert Dahlgren will be behind the wheel. No details on a second driver or the eventual WTCC involvement were mentioned.

“The development of the new racing car will be done in co-operation between Volvo Sweden and Polestar Racing, that successfully have run our STCC programme. It is too early to give any detailed information of the building of the car. But the goal is very clear – we are going to develop a winner,” said Derek Crabb from Volvo Motorsport.
