WestCoast Racing keeps driver line-up
BMW-team WestCoast Racing really stepped it up this season with a major effort that saw the team land yet another drivers title, as Fredrik Ekblom returned to the team and secured his third STCC-title. Today the team announced they will keep drivers Robin Rudholm and Fredrik Ekblom and run two BMW 320 Si
“It feels great to have it all confirmed as early as this, teammanager Dick Jönsson-Wigroth commented. We delivered this season but we know there are areas where we can improve, and that will now be our focus for next season.”
Reigning champion Fredrik Ekblom, who apart from a full STCC-season also has driven the WTCC-rounds at Anderstorp, Monza and Macau this season for BMW Team UK, said his first focus always was to stay with the team.
“I had an amazing year with Dick, Robin and the whole team, he said. I always wanted to continue and I don’t think we negotiated for more than 15 minutes. We have analyzed the season and know where we can improve. Now we have the time to work on that, and despite just having finished my long season I can’t wait to get back to work again.”
Robin Rudholm shared his teammates optimism about the renewed contract with the team.
“This is an amazing gang and I throughly enjoy my time with the team and Fredrik. There have already been many great moments, now I aim improve everything I can for 2008.”
The team is expected to field at least one brand new BMW 320Si that was bought this year.
