KWR misses fourth race in succession

KWR Sport has announced that they will miss this weekend’s Oulton Park rounds of the BTCC, their home circuit due to work commitments for team boss and driver Jason Hughes.

KWR had missed the first three meetings of 2009 due to Hughes’ ongoing knee injury, which has now been signed off by the medical team allowing the driver to return to the fray.

However, in addition to his KWR Karting business, Hughes is shortly to open a new service centre for Rover and MG models in Burscough, Lancashire, and the upcoming move to new premises has been time consuming.

“I’ve had so much going on recently and although spending the weekend in the race car at Oulton Park would be great – prior working commitments mean that I will be unable to be there this weekend.

There has been so much planning involved, with moving the KWR Karting business from the old site to the new, and with the preparation of new venture too. The team have had many long days and nights working with me to get this set up and running.”

Last year KWR Sport and Hughes put in one of their most competitive showings of the season in their bio-ethanol powered MG running in the top seven, meaning missing Oulton Park will be a blow, to what is one of the smallest teams in the BTCC paddock.

A return to the track is one the cards soon though, with Hughes pleased with the support he’s received.

“I have to be so thankful to my sponsors, partners and fans for being so patient. The time I have had out of the car so far in 2009, has really shown to me, the dedication to motorsport that the BTCC fans have, with so many kind words and messages.”
