Mörth likely to stay with Chevrolet
Pontus Mörth is likely to stay with the Chevrolet team in the Swedish Touring Car Championship next year and drive the new Chevrolet Cruze.
“It is very possible that I am going to drive the new car,” said Mörth to NWT.
The team is planning to buy one or two new Chevrolet Cruze and rent the older Lacetti to a privateer.
“The dream scenario is two new car and renting the old one. But we will most likely get at least one new car,” said Mörth.
Even if the team get the finances for the new Cruze, they are hard to get.
“The cars that were run in the WTCC this year has been sold to the BTCC team. If you want a Cruze now, you will have to order new ones and that adds to the cost,” said Mörth.
The team has been approached by Junior Touring Car Championship champion Linus Ohlsson who is interested in driving the Lacetti.
“I am aiming for STCC and to drive a front wheel driven car. The Chevrolet team have the Lacetti available for renting and that could be a good solution for us,” said Ohlsson to STCC.se.
While the team is aiming for new cars and renting the older one, nothing has been confirmed yet, nor has any of the drivers. Stay tuned for more news on the subject!
