Rickard Rydell: “STCC is interesting”

With SEAT expected to announce a significantly reduced World Touring Car Championship program for 2010, Rickard Rydell is going to be left without a drive. The Swede instead points his eyes at the Swedish Touring Car Championship.
“With the right conditions, STCC is interesting for sure,” said Rydell to STCC.se.

The official decision on the 2010 season from SEAT has not been revealed yet, but Rydell thinks that they will not be represented in the WTCC at all.

“I think that they will most likely not have a manufacturer supported program next year,” said Rydell.

While rumors have pointed out Rydell for the third Volkswagen Scirocco of the EON-team in STCC, the Swede does not expect to be in STCC 2010.

“I am pretty sure that it will not happen in 2010, I have been in touch with a couple of teams in STCC to see how things look, but it feels like if something is going to happen, it will be in 2011,” said Rydell.

Rydell is open for new cars to drive, even a rear wheel driven car.

“If I was going to take part in the STCC, I would like the right conditions, a car that I could win with. But that varies from year to year and of course I could drive a BMW if I got enough test time,” said Rydell.
