Volkswagen to debut new car in Gothenburg

The Volkswagen team, Biogas.se, is going to launch a new S2000 version of the bio-gas powered Volkswagen Scirocco for the Gothenburg City Race on the 4-5th of june.
“The new cars are adjusted to the S2000 regulations and the goal is to have them ready for the Gothenburg race,” said team boss Tommy Kristoffersson.

The team is going to start the season with the current Volkswagen Scirocco that was used in the Swedish Touring Car Championship last year.

The current Scirocco is not built according to the S2000 regulations but has been upgraded ahead of the season start on the 24-25th of april at Jyllandsringen in Denmark.

“We have taken a big step in the right direction and we are going to be competitive from the season start in Denmark,” said Kristoffersson.

The team has upgraded the suspension, launched a new gearbox, dampers from Öhlins and fine-tuned engine electronics.

“We are following the Swedish bio-gas project with great interest and are from our side going to do our very best together with the team to get them on the podium,” said Volkswagen Motorsport boss Kris Nissen.

The team is aiming to fight for the championship title of the STCC 2010.

“This is a serious and solid program with the goal to fight for race wins and the title,” said Kristoffersson.

The drivers in the team are the same as last year, Fredrik Ekblom and Patrik Olsson, while the team has been changed from Brovallen Motorsport to Kristoffersson Motorsport.
