Turbo boost lowered again for Volkswagen
The turbo boost has been lowered once again for the Volkswagen Sciroccos of the Swedish Touring Car Championship.
“We have gathered new data from the races at Kntustorp where measurements were made not only on top speed, but also on mid sectors of the straight,” said Joakim Tärnström, STCC press officer, to TouringCarTimes.com.
“The measurements showed a clear advantage for the Volkswagens in straight line speed compared to the other cars of STCC.”
The boost has been changed to 2.10 bar from the previous 2.20 bar. When the season started the boost was set on 2.25.
While no exact figures has been released from the STCC organisation, the straight line speed difference of the Volkswagen compared to the other cars is significant.
“If you compare it with the diesel SEAT’s of WTCC, they have somewhere around 3 km/h in average on the straights on some tracks. In our case the difference is bigger. That is why we have decided to lower the turbo boost,” said Tärnström.
The STCC hosts the final two races of the year this weekend at Mantorp Park, a power demanding track with long straights.
