Volvo Polestar Racing confirms Tommy Rustad

Polestar Racing has confirmed Tommy Rustad will continue for them in the 2011 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
“We have had three successful years together and it feels great to continue for another year,” said Rustad

Rustad claimed the title for the team in 2009 and has claimed eight victories and 13 podium finishes since his first season with the team in 2008.

“Tommy is a very skilled driver and we have a good co-operation together. We are more than pleased to continue working with him for 2011,” said Christian Dahl, Managing Director of Polestar Racing.

Rustad is going to get double BTCC champion James Thompson as new team-mate as former team-mate Robert Dahlgren switches to the WTCC.

“It feels good to have James as team-mate, he has got a lot of experience and will for sure contribute with a lot of new ideas,” said Rustad.

The Norwegian had a tough season last year and finished seventh in the championship. For 2011 he is aiming a lot higher.

“With the strong level of drivers in the championship this year, you can really say that the opposition has never been as strong as now in the STCC. But I know that the car is a winner and that I can win races. Hard work can bring us the title this year,” said Rustad.
