New Toyota Avensis shown off at Silverstone

The facelifted Toyota Avensis Next Generation Touring Car has been displayed at Silverstone by car makers GPR Motorsport.

The new car features the new front end for the Toyota Avensis road car as well as other enhancements that the car builder has developed over the course of the season.

“There is a lot more airflow through the new front end,” said GPRM’s Gary Blackham, “and that will aid engine cooling and performance, with more air flowing to the intercooler. But the new front end and styling changes are not the end of the story, because many lessons were learned during the Toyota’s maiden season of competition and there are significant changes under the skin also.”

Two Toyota Avensis NGTC cars have been campaigned in the BTCC this season by Speedworks Motorsport for Tony Hughes and Dynojet Racing for Frank Wrathall this season, with Wrathall taking the first independents’ class victory for an NGTC car at Snetterton, and first overall podium at the following round at Knockhill.
