Gené fastest in first STCC test of 2012 at Knutstorp

Former WTCC driver Jordi Gené was fastest in the first official Scandinavian Touring Car Championship test session of 2012. The Spaniard, who only had done one test day yesterday at Knutstorp before, lapped the track in 1:00.844 and was just under one tenth faster than team mate Johan Kristoffersson.

Kristoffersson topped the morning session and was second fastest overall, 0.021 seconds faster than Volkswagen colleague and IPS Team Biogas.se driver Johan Stureson who go his first taste of the Scirocco at Knutstorp yesterday.

Tomas Engström was best non-Volkswagen driver in the ex-Team Dynamics NGTC engined S2000 Honda Civic in fourth, 0.257 seconds from Gené’s time, ahead of Patrik Olsson in fifth.

Chevrolet driver and reigning STCC champion Rickard Rydell was sixth fastest, just under four tenths from the fastest time, ahead of team mate Michel Nykjaer in seventh.
