Johan Kristoffersson voted best STCC driver of 2012

Johan Kristoffersson, who finished fourth in the Bathurst 12 Hours for Phoenix Racing today, has been voted best STCC driver of 2012 by the readers of TouringCarTimes.

The Volkswagen driver clinched the 2012 STCC title for Volkswagen after a season long battle with defending champion Rickard Rydell. Kristoffersson received 30% of the votes, with Rydell, winner of last year’s TouringCarTimes STCC Awards, in second on 24% of the votes.

Rydell’s team mate Michel Nykjaer got third most votes on 18%, with Honda driver Tomas Engström in fourth on 9% and Santosh Berggren in fifth on 6%.

Kristoffersson’s team mate and former WTCC driver Jordi Gené was voted best rookie of the 2012 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. The Spaniard only just beat independent champion Niclas Olsson, with Gené getting 36.3% of the votes and Olsson 35,5%.

Gené finished seventh overall with two podium finishes and a second place as best result.

Andreas Ahlberg was voted third with 10,5% of the votes, Santosh Berggren fourth on 10,1% and André Andersson fifth on 7.6%.

While Olsson was beaten to best rookie, the SEAT driver took a massive victory of the best independent driver. The SEAT driver, who drive a naturally aspirated SEAT León to take the independents’ title, got 46% of the votes.

Closest to him was Joakim Ahlberg in second on on 14%, brother Andreas Alhberg in third on 12%, André Andersson in fourth on 11,6% and Tony Johansson in fifth on 10,9%.
