Igor Skuz defects to WestCoast Racing for Valencia

Ukrainian driver Igor Skuz has left Campos Racing, taking the vacancy left by René Münnich at WestCoast Racing in the Swedish team’s Honda Civic TCR this weekend as the TCR International Series heads to Valencia.

Skuz, who finished third in last season’s TC2T class in the FIA European Touring Car Cup and has a long-standing relationship with the Spanish Campos Racing team, has had a troubled start to the 2015 TCR International Series season. Skuz was plagued by overheating issues in the team’s Opel Astra OPC in Malaysia, and the team made the switch to the SEAT León Cup Racer for him in Shanghai, in which he took two 13th place finishes.

With René Münnich, WestCoast Racing’s former driver, committed to taking part in the second round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship this weekend with his team at Hockenheim, the third Honda Civic TCR at the team alongside Kevin Gleason and championship leader Gianni Morbidelli was vacant, and so Skuz has slid into the vacancy which will carry the number 20 this weekend.

The full entry list for this weekend therefore features 19 cars, with two new additions from JSB Compétition as well as a single entry by Bas Koeten Racing.

Campos Racing have still entered two cars for the event, with Jordi Oriola scheduled to drive one of the team’s Opel Astra OPCs, with the second car presently TBA.

Skuz is set to return to Campos Racing later in the season when Münnich returns from his Rallycross commitments.
