New calendar means Rallycross champion Johan Kristoffersson could contest full season

The 2018 STCC calendar features no clashes with the World Rallycross Championship, which could allow World Rallycross champion Johan Kristoffersson to drive the full season in Sweden.

”That the calendars do not clash is something we are very pleased with and simplifies our position,” said team owner Tommy Kristoffersson to stcc.se.

The team is aiming to have three cars for all of the races next year, but a formal decision has not been taken yet.

”We have a dialogue with Volkswagen and Bauhaus and I can say that we have a common goal that we should be there next season, but we need to be realistic and see if we can get a concept together that we feel is competitive,” said Kristoffersson.

”Volkswagen has their dealer conference on Saturday this week and they are our most important partner. They will decide whether they will support motorsport and what we do in 2018. We are of course hoping for a positive decision.”

The team ran three cars in the 2017 STCC for Fredrik Ekblom, Fredrik Blomstedt and Johan Kristoffersson in the races that did not collide with his World Rallycross season.

”I am of course really pleased with the drivers that drove for us this year, but at the same time we have got a couple of younger talents that are knocking on the door and want to get in,” said Tommy Kristoffersson.
