Oliver Söderström joins Lestrup Racing Team for 2018 STCC

19-year-old Swedish driver Oliver Söderström will join the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship this year, racing for the Lestrup Racing Team in one of their Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs, after two years racing in the German Formula 4 championship.

“There is great competition in the STCC with a good mix of very fast and experienced drivers, and younger drivers and there is much experience for me to compete against,” said Söderström.

“When I got the chance to meet Fredrik (Lestrup) and see how the team works, it was not hard to decide,” he added. “It is a focussed team with two cars and with a strong work ethic, and I like the feeling of how the team really works with the driver.”

Last year, Lestrup Racing Team ran a car for Albin Wärnelöv for the full season, while the second car was alternated between Dennis Strandberg, Andreas Wernersson and Robin Fredriksson.
