Alex Andersson joins Brovallen Design for 2018 STCC campaign

25-year-old Swede Alex Andersson will make his Scandinavian Touring Car Championship debut this year, racing for Brovallen Design in one of the team’s Audi RS 3 LMSs.

The Falkenberg-based driver will graduate from the Scandinavian Radical Cup where he won the drivers’ title, to the STCC with Brovallen.

“I have tested many different car types and now it feels like it’s time to take the step to STCC,” said Andersson. “I looked at it last season when the STCC started with the TCR rules, but did not really get the programme together.

“I don’t have much experience in front-wheel drive cars, so this is where I have to put my focus. I have high demands of myself, and I think I’ll be able to be in the top ten overall. Brovallen is a good and established team, and I have strong support from them,” he added.

Team principal Tobias Johansson was delighted with the team’s new signing.

“We already talked about Alex’s last season and discussions have continued over the winter,” said Andersson. “It’s very fun to help out another promising driver. STCC is new to Alex and we have to give him time to get into the car and the series, but I think he will be able to surprise many,” he added.
